The Brigade in the Community

The Sassafras-Ferny Creek Fire Brigade has been a pivotal organisation in our small community for more than 75 years.

Community Fireguard

Community Fireguard is a program aimed at assisting local residents to better prepare for the risk of bushfires in their immediate vicinity. Around 20 Community Fireguard groups exist within the brigade area. These enjoy the support of both the CFA North East Community Safety team and the local brigade. More info »

Fire Safe Kids

The brigade makes regular visits to local schools. Trained facilitators engage with students through the Fire Safe Kids program. This structured program offers primary-age children learnings about fire safety in line with the school curriculum.

Ferny Creek Bushfire Alert Sirens

During the Fire Danger Period, a system of three additional community warning sirens operate for residents in the One Tree Hill area. For more information contact the brigade secretary.

Other community groups are welcome to make use of the fire station facilities for meetings and other events. A range of groups, including conservation, sporting, school and civic organisations, already use our facilities. For more information, email the Captain.
